The other wave is more ambitious about reimagining the category itself. Instatic positions itself as a self-hosted alternative to Webflow and WordPress by combining agentic behavior with visual CMS capabilities, while Chat2DB treats the database client as an AI-native interface rather than a text editor. n8n, despite its discovery classification, anchors this pattern at scale: it's built workflow automation around visual composition and custom code from the start, now layering native AI capabilities on top. What's notable is that neither wave is producing viral-because-clever projects. The repos gaining real adoption solve concrete problems: bitchat works offline over Bluetooth mesh, superfile makes terminal file navigation usable, Kronos applies foundation models to financial market data.
