These aren't aspirational tools. They're shipping with specific constraints baked in, offline-first architecture, hardware you own, single-node RL training. The contrast with last year's agent frameworks is stark. Where earlier tools optimized for flexibility and scale, these optimize for autonomy and control. OpenStock joining the trend suggests this extends beyond pure software: developers are building replacements for expensive SaaS platforms, not just adding agentic layers on top of existing ones.

The second pattern is tooling that bridges the gap between agents and existing systems. IBM's MCP context-forge sits as a proxy and registry in front of multiple API types, solving a real operational problem: how do you give an agent consistent access to tools without rewriting each integration. Similarly, ai-memory addresses handoff between agent vendors and long-term context retention for CLI tools, while coder provides secure, multi-tenant environments for developers and their agents. These aren't frameworks for building agents from scratch. They're connective tissue that assumes agents already exist and need to operate reliably in production. The repos gaining traction here are ones that acknowledge the messy reality of heterogeneous systems and solve for interoperability rather than trying to impose a single abstraction layer.
