The dominant pattern across today's trending repos is the shift from treating AI as a service to treating it as infrastructure for autonomous systems. OpenAI's Skills Catalog, Qwen-Agent, and Microsoft's HVE Core all position themselves as frameworks for composing specialized agents rather than as monolithic models. The real traction isn't in the models themselves but in the orchestration layer, the ability to route tasks to specialized components, maintain state across multi-step workflows, and let agents coordinate with each other. Alibaba's page-agent and the AI Hedge Fund team demonstrate this in practice: they're not better at reasoning than existing models, they're better at decomposing problems into sequences of discrete actions that models can execute reliably.
What's striking is how many of these repos treat agents as deployable units with personality and process attached. Agency-agents explicitly sells each agent as a specialized expert with proven deliverables. This reflects a maturation in how teams think about AI, less "ask the model a question" and more "instantiate a component that knows its domain, its constraints, and what done looks like." The discovery repos reinforce this: nanoRLHF and OpenPipe's ART are explicitly about training agents on specific tasks rather than relying on general-purpose model outputs. Meanwhile, the physics simulation engine and audio SDKs show agents aren't limited to language tasks anymore. They're being embedded into robotics pipelines, on-device inference, and specialized domains where the overhead of a general model is prohibitive. The real work isn't happening in the model weights. It's happening in the glue code that decides what to do with the model's output.
